Trust & Standards
How we source, verify, and maintain every race listing in the directory — so athletes can trust what they find here.
The Kinetic Chronicle is an independent directory of endurance races worldwide. Our job is to map the start lines of the sport accurately — not to rank promoters, sell registrations, or invent events. This page explains the standards every listing must meet before it appears, and how we keep it honest afterward — including the athlete-submitted results, editorial Training Guides, and community features that extend the directory beyond race listings.
We do not run the races we list. Every record points back to the organizer's official site, which is always the authoritative source for date, price, course and registration. If anything here ever disagrees with the official source, the official source wins.
Our standards
Every race listing is derived from an official source — the race organizer's own website, a recognized federation calendar, or a verified registration platform. We do not invent events or copy listings from third-party aggregators. When a detail cannot be confirmed against the official source, it is left blank rather than guessed.
Dates, start times, distances, elevation figures and entry prices are recorded exactly as published by the organizer. Because organizers revise these details, we treat the official site as the source of truth and encourage athletes to confirm specifics before registering or traveling. A listing is never published without a working link to that official source.
Race directors and community members can submit new events or corrections through the submission form. Each submission is reviewed by an editor and checked against the official source before it appears in the directory. Submissions that are incomplete, unverifiable, or inconsistent with the organizer's published information are held for clarification or rejected.
Past events are marked as completed and rotated out of the default upcoming view. Registration status (open, closed, waitlist) is updated as organizers publish changes. Stale or cancelled events are removed so the directory reflects races athletes can actually enter.
If a listing is inaccurate, or if an organizer does not wish their event to appear, we act on the request promptly. Athletes and directors can report an issue through the Contact page or the submission form, and an editor will verify against the official source before making the change.
Listings are free. We do not charge organizers to appear in the directory, and we do not accept payment to improve a race's placement, ranking, or visibility. Registration always links directly to the organizer's own portal — we never insert ourselves into the entry process or take a cut of an entry fee.
Athlete Leaderboard rankings, Finisher Wall entries, and race reviews are submitted by registered users. Race results are attributed to the athlete's public profile and may be removed if they cannot be reconciled with official results. Reviews must be based on genuine participation; we remove spam, promotional, or abusive content. We do not verify every self-reported finish time against official timing, but we act on credible reports of inaccuracy.
Training Guides are original editorial articles written by our editors. They draw on publicly available coaching resources, federation guidance, and established practice, and they cite their sources where practical. Guides are not paid content and are not influenced by race directors or sponsors. We update them when new information materially changes the advice.
A directory is only as useful as it is trustworthy. By publishing these standards we hold ourselves accountable to athletes and organizers alike, and we give Google and other platforms a clear signal that The Kinetic Chronicle is a credible, editorially-maintained source — not a content farm or a paid placement engine.
The same principles extend to our athlete-facing features. Athlete Leaderboard rankings are drawn from self-reported results and linked to public athlete profiles; Training Guides are researched and written by our editors with the same source-verification discipline as our race listings; and community contributions like reviews and the Finisher Wall are attributed to registered users and moderated against our content rules.
If you spot a listing that breaks these standards, or you are an organizer who needs a correction or removal, reach us through the Contact page or the submission form. An editor will verify the change against the official source before publishing it.
Editorial questions are reviewed by our editors. Most corrections are published within a few business days of verification.
